My first front page! And all in aid of a worthy cause. The ‘Save our Star’ gig offered all-day music to raise money for the Music Venue Trust, a charity who are supporting The Star to challenge a noise abatement notice. The long standing Guildford venue, which offers a regular programme of live music, comedy and performance was issued with the order after a property developer turned nearby offices into flats, then complained about the noise to the council.
As a keen supporter of live music in the local area, I went along to ‘Save our Star’, took my camera and came away with a set of images which capture the diverse range of performers on the day. Telephone Road, Zach Johnson, Mark Nelson Band, The Manic Muddlers and many others sang, strummed and drummed to raise a whopping £700 to support this excellent cause.
I hoped the images might help raise awareness through social media and was delighted to see them published on the front page of the Surrey Advertiser. Hopefully this means more exposure and more weight behind The Stars’ campaign.
